Vasectomy

A safe, effective, and permanent form of birth control performed in a comfortable office setting.

What Is a Vasectomy?

A vasectomy is a brief outpatient procedure that prevents sperm from reaching the semen. It is one of the most reliable forms of permanent contraception. The procedure does not affect testosterone levels, sex drive, or sexual function. Most patients describe minimal discomfort and return to normal activities quickly.

What to Expect

From your first consultation through confirmation of success, here is the typical vasectomy timeline.

Consultation

Initial Visit

Dr. Radtke will discuss the procedure in detail, answer all of your questions, and complete informed consent. This is a chance to make sure a vasectomy is the right choice for you.

Procedure Day

15–20 Minute Office Procedure

Performed under local anesthesia in the office. Most patients report minimal discomfort. No general anesthesia or hospital visit required.

Day 2–3

Return to Light Activities

Most patients feel well enough to return to desk work and light daily activities within two to three days. Ice and over-the-counter pain medication are usually all that is needed.

Week 1

Resume Normal Activity

By one week, most patients can return to full normal activity, including exercise and physical work.

Month 3

Semen Analysis

A semen analysis is performed approximately three months after the procedure to confirm that no sperm are present. This is the final step to confirm success.
